Beach Vacation

We're back from a great vacation at Rehoboth Beach. We were able to relax, soak in the sun, and leave our cares behind.

One evening we were discussing why we love the beach so much, especially Rehoboth Beach. We have been coming here together for years and we love to go back to our favorite restaurants, shop at the same boutiques, and eat our favorite desserts year after year. I always look forward to Candy Kitchen's chocolate covered strawberries while my better half enjoys cake-batter-cookie-dough ice cream. I guess were creatures of habit.

I put together a short video that captures our trip. After a full day of technical difficulties that included a lot of research and "how-to" videos, I finally was able to create, export, upload, and embed the video. I've tried multiple video site hosts, many different quality settings and it is STILL blurry. Sorry don't know what else to do. Just watch is small. Who know blogging could be so technical? Enjoy!

Adrian and Michelle's Couple Shower

Yep folks, you read it right. Adrian is tying the knot. For those of you who know him understand we were all waiting for this day (and wondering if it would ever happen). He found his beautiful bride and her perfect personality and didn't wait long to dangle (literally) a ring in front of her. (read all about the proposal here)

Recently a lot of my posts have been wedding related. If you remember reading this post, I have a lot of upcoming weddings which also means a lot of wedding showers. So far Dawn and Vick's showers have been a success!

This past weekend, my big bro, also known as "Big A" celebrated his upcoming nuptials with his beautiful bride. They took the path of a "Couples Shower" so both the girls and gals could celebrate together.

Here are a few pictures that captured the beautiful, but oh so hot day! (95 degrees and humid)

A few days before the shower, I received a frantic phone call from my mother. She was concerned that we didn't have favors and wanted something special for them. "No worries mom, I will take care of it. I have a few inexpensive but classy ideas. I'll bring the favors." I said.

After a trip to target and Michaels (and you know I had my 40% coupon in hand) I whipped together the favors.
I bought the clear tins (which came with blank labels) and the ribbon from Michaels and filled them with chewy sweet tarts. I printed the labels on my computer and tied some brown and pink ribbon around them. All for the cost of $19. Can't beat that. "
  • Tins $12.00 (after the coupon)
  • Ribbon $1.00
  • Candy $6.00
Another shower filled with love, make-your-own-sundaes, presents, family, and fun. Congrats Adrian and Michelle!

Vicki's Supersized Bridal Shower

Before I get to the goods of this post...I just want you to know: SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER! I am ready for a break to relax, sleep in, go to the beach, blog, craft, and whatever else comes my way.

Now on to the Vicki's superzied shower (and in supersized I don't mean just a burger and fries, I mean a mega big mac, with a large fry, and gallon-sized soda from McDonald's).

Vicki, my college roommate, and I lived together for 3 years. We shared a room, toilet, and great memories at West Chester University. A couple months ago, we threw a shower for Dawn, our other college roommate (check out that here).

Vick is inviting around 250 people to her wedding so it was reasonable to have a 55 person shower to celebrate her upcoming nuptials.

The shower was held at a beautiful barn, perfect for the occasion.
The decorations were purple tissue-paper pom-poms from Martha Stewart and thanks to her aunt, each table was covered with purple and white flowers that also served as the favors.

There was enough food to feed a small army of men or a group of 55 women.
The guests helped themselves to appetizers while waiting for Vicki's arrival. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves...

Plus a veggie tray and homemade cheese dip. Did you spot the huge bowl of sangria?

I didn't get a chance to snap photos of the catered main course but it was caesar salad, pasta salad, roasted chicken, green beans, and bread.

The huge stack of presents
After 2 rounds of presents, a few fun games, eating appetizers then lunch, we were ready for dessert.
A fresh strawberry shortcake and a plate full of pastries, chocolate, and cookies.
So there you have it, a superszied shower for a girl who rightly deserved it. Vicki is one the kindest and friendliest girls you will ever meet. Can't wait for her big day.
