Birthday Goodies

Back in this post, I mentioned a few things I was hoping to buy for spring. I cleared a whole day during my spring break to hit the mall.  I later realized in my shopping frenzy, I missed my doctor's appointment. Oops!

My goal was to stretch my birthday money as far as it could go. Meaning, find some great bargains and bring home lots of good stuff.

At this point, I had already bought the new Adele CD and two pair of yoga pants off my original wish list. Quick side note: before I purchased the yoga pants (that were already on sale for 2 for 50.00), I searched online for an extra coupon. The first couple sites brought no such luck. I didn't give up easily and after another 5 minutes of searching, I found an extra 20% coupon. Jackpot. Another $10.00 saved. Ok back to the mall trip...

Remember this picture from Easter? I bought that blue dress on clearance for $20.00 and the belt separately for $12.00. Now if I could just get some sun on those pasty white legs.
I also came home with this green necklace, pair of earrings, and shoes:
Remember how I originally wanted toms? Well, my narrow feet were swimming in those babies and I liked this pair more. And they fit great. The shoes came in at $63.00, the most expensive item I bought. The necklace with $16.00 and the earrings were $6.00.

I came home with $20.00 in my wallet.

I felt it was a very productive trip. I've still looking for a spring purse...

Anyone else go shopping recently? Or find any good deals this spring?

Easter

I hope you all had a joyous Easter. Even though we were only home in PA for about 24 hours, we had a great visit. We got to visit with JD's family on Saturday and celebrate Gran's 81st birthday. Then on  Sunday we went to church and had lunch with all my relatives.

I have really enjoyed my time off but back to work tomorrow. I hear summer is just 37 days away :)

Good Friday

I could get used to having all this free time. Third day in a row here on the blog. Hope this good Friday finds you having a good Friday.

Today I've been listening to Adele while trying to get healthy for Easter. I think this is my 8th cup of tea in 2 days. darn sore throat. Flavor of choice this time: vanilla, honey chamomile.

See all those books in the background? I've been busy reading, summarizing, and APA formatting for my last assignment. I'm looking forward to spending the weekend my family and JD's as we celebrate Easter.

Easter always reminds me of the power of Christ. This video is a great reminder...

Happy Easter Everyone!

3 exciting things happened today...

First, I finally went birthday shopping and scored some great deals. Only a month late but it felt good to purchase a few things. Stay tuned for details on what I bought.

Second, I finally submitted my 23 page research paper that has sucked every ounce of energy out of me over the past 2 weeks. That sucker took me over 30 hours to complete. Anyone interested in how blogging can motivate young readers? Let me know. ha.

Third, I cooked a great dinner tonight. I told JD on the phone, it was one of the best meals I cooked in a long time. Yes, I ate without him. He's been working late all week so I've been eating solo.

I used this recipe from Rachael Ray. Instead of using fish, I used chicken. It's amazing what you can do with a George Foreman grill. They were delicious. The piƱa colada, soy sauce glaze did the trick. Perfect for a spring/summer meal.

Life in Texas

Spring break has arrived! Which means I can finally take the time to relax, sleep in, exercise, go shopping, blog get caught up on my final two projects for school. Looking forward to summer.

JD and I took a quick trip to East Texas to visit my grandparents. My grandma is sick and it may have been our last time together. I hope that is not the case. I did not see her very often growing up and never knew her too well. This trip provided us with a lot of quality time together. I will be forever grateful for our time together these past four days. I got to know her more and appreciate their kindness, cooking, and tours of East Texas.

Can't visit Texas without taking the John Deere out for a spin

In two weeks, I hope to finally tackle some projects I haven't had time for. Now off to finish my paper....

Be back soon, hopefully.

randomness.

Are you ready for a random post covering multiple topics in no particular order? Here it goes...

First up our dinner last night. Our Friday night date took us to Matchbox a cool urban restaurant that has great food. We've been to the one in DC but this was our first trip to the new location in Maryland. If you know JD, he is not a big fan of taking pictures. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Here I am at dinner...
and here is JD

that just makes me laugh.

Next, a recipe. Well kind of more like a picture recipe.
We like to make a quick meal on Tuesdays because we have to be out the door by 6:30 for small group. This chicken, mozzarella, and tomato bagel panini was easy, quick, and scrumptious.
1. Cook chicken
2. Place chicken, tomatoes, mozzarella and a drizzle of olive oil on the bagel and place on George Foreman.

Finally, a video. I posted a video awhile ago that featured this guy. His name is edbassmaster and he lives in Philadelphia. It may not be your humor but it sure makes me laugh. I love the guy that he's talking to and his innocent approach to really inform ed about the car.
If you are interested here are two more.

Look at this-speaker.

Have a good weekend.

Feelin' Flowery

I am so ready for spring and warmer weather. The cherry blossoms are in full bloom here in DC. I must say it is ironic that while enjoying the cherry blossom festival, we got caught in a rain and hail storm. Nothing like running for cover to the Jefferson Memorial with hundreds of other folks.

Ignore blue glasses in the background
Weird photo but I like it
Speaking of flowers, I also bought this flower for my hair. I've seen many homemade versions out here in blogworld, but I picked this one up at H&M.
Anyone else into these or is it just me?
